Download

Get the latest installer for your platform.

Download the installer for your operating system.

Install

Run the installer and follow the prompts.

Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installer.

Select installation directory (default: C:\Program Files\Troubadour)
Choose start menu folder creation
Confirm Windows driver installation prompt

Administrator privileges are required for virtual audio driver installation.

Configure

Set up your audio devices and routing.

Launch Troubadour and configure your audio setup.

1. Select your input device (microphone, application audio)
2. Select your output device (headphones, speakers)
3. Create virtual cables as needed
4. Build your routing matrix
5. Apply DSP effects if desired

Troubleshooting

No audio devices detected

Ensure your audio drivers are up to date. Try restarting your system's audio service.

High latency or crackling

Increase buffer size in Settings → Audio. Try exclusive mode for lower latency.

Application not capturing audio

Some apps require exclusive mode. Close other audio apps and enable exclusive mode in Troubadour.

App won't open (macOS)

Right-click the app and select 'Open' to bypass Gatekeeper on first launch.

Permission denied (Linux)

Run `chmod +x troubadour-*.AppImage` to make the file executable.
